What happened with Midnight Rider?
and the surprise strategy that saved my month
Last month, I highlighted a strategy I had been working on, thinking it would be my key strategy for the coming weeks, maybe through the end of the year. I had been running it for a while, and it had become one of my favorites. Any time you can get a strategy floating around a 19% Profit Factor and a Percent Profitable hovering over 80% it’s worth getting excited about. Even if, while running, it only produces 50% of those results, you will still have a successful strategy.
I also mentioned I had a new strategy I would be publishing. Even saying “Midnight Marauder – as a companion to Midnight Rider, evoking a bolder, more aggressive revolutionary spirit for the NQ.”
I deviated from all my normal routines when doing this, starting a new strategy before I had published the current plan in a Discord server I use. I overwrote the file! I literally saved a new strategy on top of the strategy I just published. There was no getting it back. It wasn't an enjoyable feeling. I spent the next few days, not trading, but trying to rebuild that strategy. I had really gone deep in building it, changing the normal EMAs to SMAs among other key settings. There was no getting this strategy back. I wasted three days trying.
So, there are no results to publish for that Midnight Rider strategy. It was unfortunate and disappointing. I have not yet been able to optimize my approach to achieve those results.
I developed a new strategy. Midnight Marauder, the strategy that would save my month. No article about it, no build-up. I was nervous about it. It’s a monster, trading ten NQ. For me, ten NQ is a considerable risk, more than my account should be exposed to. (Maybe the account can, my emotions can’t - trading 10 NQ when I’m asleep) It was time to bring in the trade copiers, giving me the ability to trade a smaller size on my account and line up some PropFirm accounts to trade.
I will cover the Midnight Marauder strategy and what it did for me in the following article. I plan to publish it tomorrow. I will also cover some extreme changes I made to my trading style, again, using some of the podcasts I listen to for some great ideas.
